Welcome back to the last Wednesday of March 2022. April is on the horizon, especially April 1st. Be careful out there on Friday. None of us needs that foolishness right now. Weird news, on the other hand, is just the right balance of fun and sanity. 😉
This first story has the most badass flamingo on the planet. Run, Pinkie, run!
Welcome to my extra post for this week to celebrate Alex Cavanaugh’s upcoming book release. He is the founder of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG), and his latest book CassaDark drops this week. Check it out!
CassaDark
By Alex J. Cavanaugh
“Cavanaugh returns to the world of his Cassa Series…for a fourth inventive space opera.” – Publisher’s Weekly
His world is unraveling…
Bassan’s father is stepping down from command. His best friend almost dies when Bassan freezes. Now, he’s being sent across the galaxy to speak at an important conference. Despite saving the eleven races years ago, he’s paralyzed by doubt. Could things get any worse?
Once there, new acquaintance Zendar convinces Bassan to visit his planet for a humanitarian mission. Bassan’s special connection to ancient technology is the key to saving Zendar’s people. One problem though—it’s a prisoner planet.
On Ugar, he discovers things aren’t so straightforward. As each truth reveals itself, the situation grows more desperate. If he can’t find the right answers, he might die along with Zendar’s people. Can Bassan summon the courage to be a hero again?
Spring has sprung! I hope you are enjoying the longer days and not a spring storm. I am. I had an appointment that ran until just after 7, and I came out the last light of the day. It’s no longer dark at 7. That lovely fact deserves some silly news.
I had to share the pig chasing off the bear with you. Amazing!
Happy Hump Day, y’all! It’s raining in advance of a coming snowstorm over here, so I’m curled up on my couch watching reruns of Bones. It’s one of my comfort shows. Before I get back to my vegging, I had to share a little news.
Both stories are science stories this week. I couldn’t help myself when I heard about this next story. Although it is also sad, gaining some measure of proof of what our brains go through as we die is incredible.
Welcome to the March 2022 posting for Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). If you haven’t already checked out the monthly crew, remedy your mistake by clicking on the image above. Here are the amazing four who are co-hosting this month: Janet Alcorn,Pat Garcia,Natalie Aguirre, and Shannon Lawrence!
The optional question this month is–have you ever been conflicted about writing a story or adding a scene to a story? How did you decide to write it or not?
I can’t say I’ve been conflicted about writing a story per se, but I have always been challenged by some aspect of what I’m writing. I write it anyway. Maybe I should even say that I have to write it if it challenges me. Being a masochist is part of the gig. Time for some news.
This first story involves a traveling hat. It could be a very simple explanation, but I prefer something far less simple–otherworldly maybe. 🙂
It is yet another Wednesday in yet another crazy month. If I’m honest, crazy extends far beyond just the month, but opening that conversation is depressing. So…weird news instead.
There is nothing I can add about this story. Read, just read.
Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re safe and warm in your corner of the world. I am cuddled up under a blankie rewatching season 1 episodes of Bones. They’re part of my comfort zone, but I’m taking a break to share a little with y’all.
This first story is absolutely insane. If I had been on the ground, I would have thought it was the beginning of the zombie apocalypse.
Welcome back for another weekly news post. It’s late, and I’m super sleepy. So … I’m just going share a song before checking out for the night. A little taste of Billie Eilish for you. Enjoy, and I’ll see you in seven.
Time for my monthly Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) post. It’s a cold, snowy day in my neck of the woods, so I’m cuddled up under a blankie as I write. I hope you’re warm wherever you’re reading this post.
February 2 question – Is there someone who supported or influenced you that perhaps isn’t around anymore? Someone you miss?
Yes. When I started out, I met a writer named Lexa Cain. She was a huge support in my early days, and she led me to IWSG. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and I haven’t heard from her in years. I miss her very much. A little melancholy post, but true. I hope somehow she sees this.
