Weekly News

Hello all! It’s Wednesday yet again, and a pretty good one at that. I’m beginning to settle back into teaching, waving goodbye to summer. It’s a slow and slightly pitiful wave, but it’s made easier by the hilarious people I work with on a daily basis. People make all the difference, don’t they? Just to give you a sampling of the fun that finds its way into random moments–we may or may not have had a serious discussion about naming our new water cooler today, replete with a survey of possible name choices. Seriously awesome.

And in that spirit, my first news story looks at someone else’s day at work. Can you imagine handing over a ring that costs more than most homes just for a guy to swallow and throw back up? Weird day at the office to say the least.

This next story begs the question: Seriously, Finland? It’s Santa Claus.

And in the word of science, Legos rule! Okay, maybe just Lego-like road materials. Still cool, though.

That’s it for me this Wednesday night. I may or may not be looking forward to finding out the results of the water cooler naming survey. Middle school teachers are so similar to middle school kids. *Giggle*

  1. Your links are always interesting. It’s the second week of school for me. There’s so much to do.

Oh no… not Santa. You find the funniest posts:)

  3. lexacain says:

Well, I sure wouldn’t give my half-million dollar ring to that guy. Santa is going bankrupt? Say it ain’t so! Seems like the Lapland gov’t could be a little generous and waive the taxes. Cool article about plastics and roads and solar cell roads too.

Don’t name the water cooler Bob. Name him Alex. (Heh-heh)

Me either. I agree about the taxes–there’s something so wrong about taxing Santa out of business. I love all the innovative building techniques they’re trying. We really do have a lot of options to engineer our way out of our current limitations if we’re willing to fund them.

We have all come up with a list of feminine names–a bunch of women are choosing after all. Right now, Princess Agua and Lola are leading the charge. My votes were for Black Panther (it’s a sleek black machine) and Susie Q. Overkill, but I was out-voted. 😉 EIther way, we have had a blast with the endless jokes and silly conversations that arise. Middle school teachers are there for a reason. We are so much like the kids. 😛

  4. Name him Bob.
That guy on America’s Got Talent is beyond amazing. My wife can’t watch him, but I think he’ll be one of the top contenders.

We decided the machine is a woman, so Bob’s out. Thanks for the suggestion. 🙂
I haven’t seen him, but when I saw the article and the cost of her ring, I was blown away at the idea of it. I would never let anyone swallow a half million dollars of my jewelry. Fingers crossed for the guy, though.
