IWSG and Weekly News

It’s that time again–time for a virtual release of fears, nervousness and general anxiety-induced twitterings. If you like the sideshow such collective moaning provides, click the link above and partake. If you don’t, what’s wrong with you? 🙂

The awesome co-hosts today are Lauren Hennessy, Lisa Buie-Collard, Lidy,Christine Rains, and Mary Aalgaard!

My spasm-producing anxiety this month connects to last month’s–my rewrite. I am making steady progress, and I even got some great additional feedback from some new critique partners. But, the anxiety actually derives from my well-worn issue of time. All I want to do is put butt in chair and really lay down all of these great changes. I don’t want to spend the hours between sunrise and sunset working, commuting, socializing and all the other general adulting I have to do.

But I have to.

Waah…

There’s not really a question that attaches to my venting this month. It’s just venting. Sorry. Oh, and whining–lots and lots of whining.

***************************************

Back to adulting. How about some news?

This first piece is hilarious. When I first clicked the link, I nearly face-palmed at the title. But it’s kinda brilliant actually.

Can you imagine the conversation of the cops in the car? For me, I imagine a lot of laughter and horn jokes interspersed by checking their pockets for their phones to take the pictures.

This is just too cool to pass up. Two thousand marbles and the imagination of the human mind combine to make beautiful music.

That’ll do it for another Wednesday. See you same time and place next week, right?

About kimlajevardi

I am a forty-something-year-old writer. I'm currently drafting my second book. I've also written short stories, poems, and some non-fiction over the last several years. My interest in writing formed during countless hours with my nose tucked in books. I may have even been clutching a novel as I was born. :)

  1. I always want more time to write. Sometimes I get my wish and other times I feel like I’m not fulfilling my goals or I lose my free time and sleep to write.

We all have to vent and it actually helps a lot:) Hope you get more time to work through your story… got to bring it back to the group so I can continue reading it:)

I hope I get more time as well, TF. I’ll bring the story back once it’s totally finished with this round of edits. By that point, I’ll be looking more for beta reading instead of chapter-by-chapter critiques.

The McDonald’s story is hilarious! I saw about the unicorn hunt on the news, and that afterward, the owner put devil horns on it instead of the unicorn horn – so cute! HOLY CRAP! That marble thing was AWESOME! It was such a bizarre-looking machine, I was skeptical, but the music is terrific! Thanks for the great stories, keep up the good progress on the rewrite, and what’s this about new CPs? :O

    • kimlajevardi says:

The devil horn part if hilarious, but I go back to the fact that some people have way too much time on their hands. The music was great, wasn’t it? That amazed me.

The new CPs are writer friends I’ve had for a while, and we’ve only now begun critiquing each other’s work. Just adding to my critique circles, not replacing anyone. Especially not you, Lex. 🙂

  4. Adulting sucks sometimes, doesn’t it?
    The McDonald’s sign was funny.
The marble instrument is amazing though! Must’ve taken someone years to design and build it. Or a team of fifty about a month…

It definitely sucks sometimes. I love that Rube Goldberg music machine. The imagination that it would take to come up with something like that is incredible. I’d like to meet the designer.
