IWSG and Weekly News

It is time once again for my monthly posting for The Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). We’re a fun-loving group of insecure writers who reach trembling fingers through our virtual keyboards to find connection beyond our keyboards. Come join us.

The awesome co-hosts for the September 2 posting of the IWSG are PJ Colando, J Lenni Dorner, Deniz Bevan, Natalie Aguirre, Louise – Fundy Blue and me.

The optional question this month is – If you could choose one author, living or dead, to be your beta partner, who would it be and why?

The truth is the question is hhhaaarrrddd. I love so many books and authors. If I have to choose one (argh, curses), the answer would be: Naomi Novik. I love everything of hers I’ve read. If you haven’t read her, go. Now.

Short but sweet posting this month. Now, it’s time for a news and music snack.

This first story is “unbearable.” 🙂

And in science news today, puberty may not be great for your skin or your voice, but it could provide a window to help repair childhood trauma. That matters–a whole hell of a lot for many kiddos out there.

I leave you with a new favorite. See you in seven.

I am a forty-something-year-old writer. I'm currently drafting my second book. I've also written short stories, poems, and some non-fiction over the last several years. My interest in writing formed during countless hours with my nose tucked in books. I may have even been clutching a novel as I was born. :)

  3. Thanks for co-hosting today, Kim! I’ve never head of your favorite author/beta partner. But, that is also true for most blog posts I’m reading this month. I guess I’m totally “under-read” in American/English literature! Happy Sunday!

  4. Arlee Bird says:

I can add to my list of authors I’ve never heard of with your beta choice. Must be a good one.

Fascinating research regarding the possible healing properties of puberty. When it comes to children there just shouldn’t be bad memories.

It’s fun seeing who everyone would choose as beta-readers! Wish this could come true.

  17. It was hard to narrow it dow to one author!

  18. It is funny when it’s a toy. KInds scary to think what would have happened to a person! Maybe they would just catch it and be thrilled. Note to self: Bring glove and helmet to next in-person baseball game.
