Another month, another posting for The Insecure writer’s Support Group (IWSG). Our awesome co-hosts are J Lenni Dorner, Janet Alcorn, PJ Colando, Jenni Enzor, and Diane Burton!
July’s optional question is—If you could live in any book world, which one would you choose?
This is so tough because I love so many book worlds. But if I have to choose one today, it would be the science fantasy/horror world conceived by Seanan McGuire in Middlegame. It wouldn’t be easy to step into its pages, but getting to be a firsthand observer to the world-changing alchemy that rewrites time itself would be amazing. So amazing I wouldn’t even miss the news, but alas …😉
This first story features a bird which helped a kangaroo escape, and it wasn’t even an Australian bird.

I had to share the science deets about how sea anemones launch their venomous stingers with y’all today because—well, I just had to know.

I leave you with an oldie but goodie. Enjoy and I’ll see you in seven,
An interesting perspective! I’m definitely intrigued 🙂
That kangaroo! Looks like he just wanted to play ball.
Right? 😊
i haven’t read Middlegame, but I wouldn’t want to be in a horror world. Glad it works for you.
It’s only slightly horrorish. Mostly, I’m drawn to the abilities of the two main characters. I’d love to see their powers in action.
Not familiar with Middlegame.
Not often you see a kangaroo play soccer.
I was in high school when that song came out…
Middlegame is a great read if you ever decide to pick it up.
I haven’t read Middlegame. But cool pick.
For the IWSG July prompt asking which book world I would live in, I narrowed it down to three choices.
One is a short-story I published. One is from a popular series. And one is better known from television, but there are books. It’s all on my blog.

Over at Operation Awesome, our Pass or Pages query contest is open this week with July’s family saga genre. Know any writers who might want to enter?

It was so hard to narrow it down. My other choice was the world of Naomi Novik’s Temeraire series. I love dragons!
I have also enjoyed some of McGuire’s work, though I haven’t read that one. I’ll have to check it out! @samanthabwriter from

It’s her best work to date in my opinion.
