IWSG and Weekly News

Welcome back to another posting for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). The first Wednesday of every month participating writers hop between each others blogs to commiserate with all of the ups and downs of this crazy authorial journey. If you’re curious, check out the blogs of our illustrious co-hosts: Diedre Knight, Douglas Thomas Greening, Nick Wilford, and Diane Burton!

The optional question this month is November is National Novel Writing Month. Have you ever participated? If not, why not?

No, I haven’t participated in NaNo. The primary reason is because I always seem to be mid-project whenever it rolls around. Fast drafting, at least for me, works best when I’m at the beginning. Being halfway through means I am often somewhere in the editing process, and that is not a place where over 1600 words per day is likely. So, no NaNo. But I can share fun news for those of you who are participating.

My first news morsel today is a link about a cat con which features Nicolas Cage. Did you all know he was an internet famous cat dad?

It turns out sex may have been a far more powerful tool than violence in wiping out the Neanderthals. I heart science.

One last piece of entertainment before I go–a song. Enjoy and I’ll see you in seven.

About kimlajevardi

I am a forty-something-year-old writer. I'm currently drafting my second book. I've also written short stories, poems, and some non-fiction over the last several years. My interest in writing formed during countless hours with my nose tucked in books. I may have even been clutching a novel as I was born. :)

  1. I’ve had mixed results with NaNoWriMo, but generally@samanthabwriter from
Balancing Act I agree with you that it works best when you’re in the early stages of a project.

Now an actual cat con, like a comic con, would be both fun and bit on the weird side. Image all the cosplay pictures I’d take!

  3. Cage cuddling with cats. I have seen it all now.
