Happy first Wednesday of the month. It’s time once again for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group post. The awesome co-hosts for the February 7 post are SE White, Janet Alcorn, Victoria Marie Lees, and Cathrina Constantine!
The optional question is: What turns you off when visiting an author’s website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little mention of author’s books? Constant mention of books?
Hmm…negativity can be a big turn off for sure. I also dislike constant book pitching. There has to be something more to add value. I truly haven’t seen many problems with either of the above though on the blogs I’ve visited. It appears to be more of a social media issue.
That’s it for me tonight, but I leave you with a song until next month. Enjoy!

I agree with the negativity being a downer, though I think some must be expected in a blog hop like Insecure Writers. Even when I’m down or it seems like everything is going wrong, I try to put something positive in it.
That’s a good strategy to keep yourself from falling down the negativity rabbit hole.
Two valid points. Your website is maybe not the best place to vent all your complaints. Better to put the best version of you out there. @samanthabwriter from

Agreed!
I tried to comment on yours, but Blogger is not playing nice again.
Constant negativity and book pitching is a turnoff for me, too.
Not interactive at all.
I don’t like negativity or too much book pitching either.
Definitely a turn off.
I don’t like negativity either.
Great song!
Yeah, negativity brings everyone down.
