Welcome back for another monthly posting of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). We’re a group of neurotic keyboard junkies who meet once a month via our keyboards. 😉 This month’s virtual connect is supported by our fantastic co-hosts: SE White,Cathrina Constantine,Natalie Aguire,Joylene Nowell Butler, and Jacqui Murray. Take a second and visit their blogs.
June 1st question – When the going gets tough writing the story, how do you keep yourself writing to the end? If have not started the writing yet, why do you think that is and what do you think could help you find your groove and start?
When the going gets tough, I throw every strategy at the virtual wall until something sticks. I’ll take a break before restarting, butt in chair every day at the same time, read some books in my genre, and/or other crazy ideas that present themselves as answers. I will do every possible thing to shake the words loose because once an idea is stuck in my head, I can’t stop. Writing is so weird.
Hello boys and girls! Another Wednesday has come, and nearly gone, and it’s yet another hot one in my neck of the woods. We have our hottest day this week tomorrow and then we have snow in the forecast Friday. Weird forecast for yet another weird 2022 week. All I can do is shake my head as I peruse headlines.
For your news sampling this week, if Houdini were a dog and a snuggler.
Hello all! It’s Wednesday once again. It’s a hot one over here. I’m thinking rain thoughts on an almost 90* day. Ugh. Until my thoughts manifest something useful, I’m distracting myself with the news.
This first story is the craziest “woman gives birth at …” story I‘ve seen.
May 4 question – It’s the best of times; it’s the worst of times. What are your writer highs (the good times)? And what are your writer lows (the crappy times)?
My writing highs overtake me when my writing flows. I love the feeling when all the pieces click into place, and the words become the most natural thing in the world. Those experiences will leave me excited, a smile glued to my face.
My writing lows come from opposite experience. Being stuck, not knowing what comes next, or pulling at the threads of my story and being completely unable to weave them together. It sucks, but I refuse to think about it now. I’m been deep in highs lately, so … I now transition to the news. 😉
My first story involves cake and a heart-warming gesture. Enjoy both!
Happy Hump Day! I’m in a good mood—brain-fried, but in a good mood. I just finished the rewrites of my current book. I’m building my query and synopsis now, but I’m still riding high from finishing the heavy lifting. Share in my good mood by enjoying a couple of stories I found.
This first story is something. I just, um…read it.
