Tardy Weekly News

It’s Thursday once again. What do you mean I post on Wednesdays? Who said I post on Wednesdays?

Um…yeah, I guess I did. Sorry. Yesterday was a day. It’s better now. Enjoy the stories and pretend. You can pretend whatever you want right now. For some of you it will involve time, and for others…I hope the things I share help you breath for a moment or laugh. We all need some laughter about now.

This first story makes me happy for “Cocaine Hippos.” That is the weirdest sentence I’ve written in a while, and I write fiction.

And in science news this week, auroras. Why? Because I want to see them in real life so bad, like top-of-the-bucket-list bad. Enjoy!

That’s all for me today. Stay healthy, and I’ll see you in six.

Unless you’re living under a rock, you are well aware that things are nuts at the moment. I decided to share some music to add something uplifting to what has gotten pretty heavy. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Welcome back, cats and kittens. It’s the first Wednesday of the month once again, which means it’s time for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) posting. If you still haven’t clicked on the image above and virtually traveled to our anxiety-riddled hive mind, snap to it.

March 4 optional question – Other than the obvious holiday traditions, have you ever included any personal or family traditions/customs in your stories?

Not really. Helpful answer, I know. The closest I came was looking at the pagan traditions of several cultures which pre-date the modern area as a resource for made up holidays in my YA fantasy novel. Not exactly the same but idea adjacent. 🙂

Time for some news.

Happy Wednesday, boys and girls! It’s been seven days since we were last together. I told you I’d be back. I know you were worried. Well, maybe not. 😉 I guess I’ll just get to the news.

Weekly News

It’s that time of the week again—time for some news snacks. I present to you some tasty but filling news nuggets to get you through the rest of the week. Indulge, I won’t tell. 🙂

This first story is yet another adorable animal pair. Just like last week’s coyote and badger, I immediately filled in dialogue to every movement. This one would be good as a live-action short, while the coyote/badger would make a great animated film. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5e4d9a95c5b6a8bbccb81fa9

This first story feels like the beginning of a horror movie.

InsecureWritersSupportGroup2

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, which means it is Insecure Writer’s Support Group time. If you want to join or hop between the amazing participating blogs, click the image above and/or the co-hosts blogs linked below.

Our amazing co-hosts today are Lee Lowery, Ronel Janse van Vuuren, Jennifer Hawes, Cathrina Constantine, and Tyrean Martinson!

The optional question this month is: Has a single photo or work of art ever inspired a story? What was it and did you finish it?
Absolutely. When I began writing, I used to participate in small writing contests. One of the ones I loved was based on picture prompts. Not only did numerous shorts and a few poems get birthed from that process, but one of those shorts actually grew to become my second book. Wow, right? It gets better. Dragon Embers–my book baby born from the short story prompt–is the first book in a, hopefully, five book YA fantasy series. I finished the first book, and I will write more once I sell it. Suffice it to say I love picture prompts.

Now, time for some news.

It’s time once again for some weird, interesting, and science-y news. You ready?

Happy Wednesday! We’re midway through the first January of 2020. It’s a calm week in my neck of the woods. I’m currently drafting the first draft of my newest book baby. I had to take today and yesterday to rethink important character information, but I’ll be back at it tomorrow. Until then, some news.

This first story deals with bird poop. I have to share. I’m such a child. 😉

Last, but not least, science. The idea of understanding a person’s aging profile is fascinating. This could be a huge change for people in my generation. I heart science!

That’s it for me tonight. See you again in seven.
