Happy Hump Day! Tis Wednesday once again. Why the archaic language? Dunno. Just like I sometimes go down language rabbit holes, I’ve been known to occasionally affect an accent, even an archaic one. Random, I know. Tis what it tis, though.

Apparently, Florida now has zombies. The TV and movies never warned us about the fact they can only be contained by working electricity. They also never told us that our government knows where they are and has warnings set to release should their containment go awray. Guess what happens when there’s a power outage and the government loses their grip? WARNING: THE ZOMBIES ARE COMING.

If an agency begins their answer to your tweet with “Erm,” they are basically saying “you are a dumbass.” Just saying.

In science news, a possible vaccine for brain tumors. This has so much potential to change so many lives.

That’s all for today, folks. Now, apparently, I’m channeling Looney Tunes. Dunno. Oh well, see you here in seven.

Weekly News

Hello all! Wednesday is here once again, and it’s a gorgeous Wednesday in my opinion. A summer-break-has-begun-Wednesday, which is the best kind of Wednesday of all. I am free. Yippee!

I’m happier than most weeks to share some news with you tonight. This is the best time of the year.

This first story goes to show that computers know more about our naughty habits than our better ones. Someone needs to teach the computer a bit of Latin.

I cannot stop laughing at this next story. A caravan of oranges–cars and cars full of 8,000 pounds of them. Who needs that many oranges? Seriously? I envision many clowns falling out of these cars along with the hundreds of oranges rolling out when the door opened. It doesn’t matter if this was truly more serious than that, my imagination is picturing its own clown-car escapades. I’m dying over here.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/spanish-police-find-8-000lbs-stolen-oranges-traffic-stop-n843291

In science news, nano scale developments. I cannot even fathom using material that is one-atom thick to control electromagnetic energy movement. I am in awe.

That’s all for this school-free teacher. Time to strap in to full-time writing for the summer. I heart summer break! See you back here in seven.

Weekly News

It is Wednesday. This time that is actually a totally-true statement. I’m not late–no Wednesday/Thursday hybrid days to mess you up, at least not this week. Do I get a cookie? I like chocolate chip. No? Hmm … I guess I’ll do the news anyway. 😉

This first story is a first of its own. It’s sad to see this/these stillborn fawns, but it’s fascinating to see conjoined twins in another species. I was surprised to hear they have never been known to be born alive. Even before modern separation surgeries, human conjoined twins could survive and live out their lives, not frequently, but there are cases where that happened.

Before you spend hours fretting about whether the new viral recording is saying Laurel or Yanny, here is the explanation for why people could be divided. Quality matters even in sound, folks.

In science news, baking soda may round out its usefulness by grabbing the trifecta: cleaning, cooking, and healing autoimmune reactions. Dude.

Can I have a cookie now? Still no, huh? Bummer. I guess I’ll still see you in seven.

Weekly News

Hello! I’m back from my Florida vacation. I spent time with family, saw my brother graduate, dorked out at the Harry Potter portions of Universal, and generally enjoyed my days off. But all break must come to an end, and I know you must be in need of a news fix. I know I am.

This first story shows brilliant public relations in the face of a customer service crisis. I love the bucket!

There is zero chance anyone will ever confuse a rapper and a gynecologist. Nope, not even a sliver of a chance.

I gotta admit that I picked this next story because of the imagery of a wandering drunken gas planet. I heart science!

That’ll do it for this evening. See you all in seven.

Weekly News

I’m a day late. I’m not going to excuse it away. It happened. It happens a lot to me. Wednesday and Thursday are practically the same, aren’t they? Say yes. 🙂

Time for some time-delayed news.

This first story has the best line of the week: “Monkey see, monkey sue is not good law.” Well, okay then.

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/monkey-naruto-no-copyright-court_us_5ade8786e4b0b2e811328d58

That is a ridiculous number of tumbleweeds.

Science is progressing with the most amazing, futuristic ideas imaginable. The applications for 3D printing onto humans are beyond believable. Science matters, and this is why science matters.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/04/180425131914.htm

That’s all for me on this fine Wednesday/Thursday–one day I tell you, one really long day.

All right, all right … I guess two. Sticklers. See you back here in six.

Weekly News

Happy Wednesday! I’m here, even though 80 mph winds tried to blow me and my house away yesterday. Seriously. No hurricane. No tornado. We just lived through a massive movement of air, really massive.

Today is a little different in my news quest. I have a protag in my current WIP who is an artist, which is making me take even more notice of art links and stories. There’s so much cool art out there that I decided to share.

This first one is so cool. I love the floating silver. Stunning!

This next one makes me want to cut, roll, and fold paper creations of my own, but we all know mine would look like a fifth graders.

Last but not least, art crafted by the earth itself. Science and art. Love!

That’s all for tonight. Take some time to check out art whether you’re playing Dorothy in your own wind storm or not. 😉

Hello all! It is time once again for my blathering about randomness. I like randomness. If you’ve read me before, you know this. I think it’s a positive quirk. 🙂

This first story could start a war if I dropped it into the midst of a writer’s conference. Proof that the Oxford comma has a role. Can you tell which side I’d fight on?

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/think-commas-don-t-matter-omitting-one-cost-maine-dairy-n847151

This is so cute. The sheep let the rabbits hitch a ride, and the rancher gave them a pass since they were smart enough to figure out such a solution. Good all the way around. This gave me the feels.

In science news, the weirdest condemnation of putting on all the colors to attract a mate. Apparently, it increases the risk of extinction. Intriguing, but also a bit humorous.

That’s all for me tonight. See you back here in seven.

IWSG and Weekly News

InsecureWritersSupportGroup2

It is time once again for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group monthly posting. A far-flung group of writers whose portals have clickable entry points embedded in the image above. Try it. You know you want to.

The fantastic co-hosts for the April 4th posting of the IWSG are Olga Godim, Chemist Ken, Renee Scattergood, and Tamara Narayan!

The question today is – When your writing life is a bit cloudy or filled with rain, what do you do to dig down and keep on writing?

For me the methods to dig deep depend upon why I’m stuck. As with where I am now, in the early building stages of a WIP, butt in chair is my main coping device. Sit, even if I only accomplish 100 words. Sit, even if I only add more to my research. Sit, even if I only manage to figure out a character or plot point. Just sit and point face at screen. Time matters.

The trick changes during second, third, fourth, fifth, etc … drafts. Then, it helps to chunk write. Do a burst, then read. Do a burst, then eat lunch. Do a burst, then go for a run. Work, think, repeat.

***************************

Time for some news.

This first story just cracked me up. Dilly! Dilly! Don’t say it, Kim. It’s forbidden. Dilly! Dilly! 😉

Yet another Wednesday has swooped in to replace an outgoing Tuesday, a rapidly outgoing Tuesday. Speedy calendar switches. Stealth like. Day ninjas–that’s what they are–day ninjas. I really have a strange relationship with time. 😉

Time for some news.

This first story is a big ol’ really, dude? I guess it’s normal for a family of gator wranglers, but … really?

In science news, this new discovery could be a game changer for studying and treating disease, aging research, and so much more. Turns out we should never ignore the in between. Fluid in the gaps as organ. Who’d a thunk it?
