The tree is up, the lights are hung, and ornanents hang from every branch. Tis the season for fun, food, and gifts. So what’s there to be insecure about you ask?
Well, I’ll tell you: my committment to keeping my tuchus in the chair.
With the parties, the shopping, and darkness before five p.m., I find it easier to slip from my writing routine.
Am I the only one, or are there other writers out there who are just plain distracted this time of year?

Stop by and support the fantastic writers of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group. Merry Christmas!
It’s a terrible time of year to get anything done let alone writing! I’m with you. January we will all be back in the chair!
Heather
January sounds good to me, Heather! π
Yay for snapping an IWSG post up here so quickly! See? It’s not hard to whip something out if you’re motivated. You’ll keep your tuchus in the chair — and if you can’t quite accomplish all you want, there’s always January. (No one really expects to get too much done in Dec anyway.)
Great post! π
Yeah, I ended up whipping one out. It’s funny because I had to switch computers to post on your blog and that was responsible for me sucking up my tired. Thanks for posting π
I’m in the waiting phase, so bring on the distractions!
It’s difficult this time of year. Just steal what time you can and don’t stress what you can’t do.
Good advice, Alex! Enjoy your holiday distractions.
lol… not at all. I’m completely distracted this month and trying to do revisions but ugh. And in 2 weeks my kids will be out of school then it;s all awash anyway.
Thanks for stopping by with good wishes. π
Kids are definitely a distraction – fun, but a distraction. You’re welcome. Ditto π
After NaNo, I’m eager to start rewriting that novel… although December has started so jam-packed I haven’t actually done anything yet. TODAY, I start!!
December seems to get jam packed every year, or is that just me? π best wishes on your revisions. Thanks for posting.
For me, the darkness helps. I like curling up with my lap top after the world has gone to sleep. That makes it easier to think that I’m not completely ignoring the world.
I like the quiet of night, but I prefer to write in the morning when my mind’s fresh. Work usually wipes me out, and I have few brain cells left when I get home. π Thanks for posting.
November kicked my writer butt so I’m super ready to reciprocate. I have serious plans for butt in chair. Good luck!
Enjoy putting butt in chair in December. I still am, but not without a little self-indulged guilt. Thanks for posting.
