Weekly News

Hola all! I’m feeling spicy tonight, which means I need to jazz up my greeting. Hola was my first option, but I also have salam and wau for you. Wau is actually Australian, and on the page I found it, there were two additional hello options: ella and alla. That’s pretty cool, huh? Makes me think there’s some interesting things going on down there. Want to join me in checking it out? 😉

I was right. Can you imagine coming home to this little guy? He is so confused by the slick surface of that weird shiny tree.

Absolutely brilliant move to make the police station a Pokemon gym. Some people just don’t think.

This has so much potential, and I love that the scientists working on it are from my neck of the woods.

That’s all for yet another Wednesday evening. I’ll see you back here in seven.

  1. Great links as usual. Lol @ the Pokemon player.

Hola, salaam, and wau to you too! Koala isn’t doing much dancing. Very funny about the Pokemon Go arrest. I wonder if the iPhone was his or stolen?! I love the Pokemon craze. Any computer game that gets people off their butts and walking is fine by me. The tension separator thing looks great for lab work. Be nice if there were portable lab tests that could be done, like the pregnancy test sticks, for diabetes and a range of other diseases. Have a lovely weekend!

The koala looks so confused. I didn’t even think about the possibility of his iPhone being stolen. The movement side of Pokemon Go is fantastic, but there are downsides to taking people out into the world when they are focused almost exclusively on the phones in their hands. Some very funny headlines have resulted. I agree that the opportunities for portability make the lab technique quite beneficial.

I had a great weekend. I hope you did as well, Lex!

It has its good parts, but it’s quite scary to unleash large numbers of inside people out into the world when their attention rarely wavers from the phone in their hand.

  3. I love the Pokemon story. So funny. They really could catch a lot of criminals that way.

True, but I have seen other police stations asking to have themselves taken off gym status for the game because of the disruptive environment it creates. This case was wonderful, but I guess it’s not always the case.
