Happy Wednesday! We are halfway through October, weeks away from Halloween. Spooktacular times are coming. Enjoy if you partake. If not, at least there’s lots of candy. But first, news.
Those are some pricey cookies. https://www.npr.org/2021/09/26/1040779728/pokemon-oreo-cookies-ebay-pikachu-mew
Tweaking brain cells can be key in learning. Not just for us, though. I’ve been learning more about AI lately, and my writing brain is blowing up with the possibilities. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/10/211006112626.htm
I leave you with an oldie but goodie. Enjoy, and I’ll see you in seven. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_zBwRDEFMRY

IWSG and Weekly News
The amazing co-hosts for the October 6 posting of the IWSG are Jemima Pett,J Lenni Dorner,Cathrina Constantine,Ronel Janse van Vuuren, and Mary Aalgaard!
The optional question this month is–in your writing, where do you draw the line, with either topics or language?
The only thing that comes to mind is writing from the POV of a parent whose child dies. I can’t imagine being able to handle writing something like that. Other than that, I don’t necessarily have topic boundaries, and I love bad words. So…
Time for some news.
This is not the first time I’ve heard a similar story, but I would have loved to see the faces of the other people searching for the guy. *insert facepalm here* https://www.huffpost.com/entry/beyhan-mutlu-missing-joins-search-party_n_6157255be4b008640eb3e819
Science and poetry are far more natural partners than anyone would have guessed. This is pretty cool!
Last up, a song. Enjoy, and I’ll see you in seven.

Welcome back to another Wednesday. This one marks the first day of fall 2021. Leaves, cooler temps, and yummy foods. Finally!
Fall is not the only news today, though. Cows can be potty-trained. That’s all I need to say, isn’t it? 😂 https://www.huffpost.com/entry/cows-potty-train-mooloo_n_613f7144e4b0dda4cbd2091b
Several science fiction movies have warned us about this moment, but science is ignoring them. What could go wrong? https://scitechdaily.com/startup-colossal-biosciences-wants-to-bring-woolly-mammoths-back-from-extinction-it-might-not-be-such-a-bad-idea/
I leave you with a old favorite of mine. Enjoy! I’ll see you in seven. https://youtu.be/_zBwRDEFMRY

Happy Wednesday! Yet another week has come and gone. Flying, I tell you, the days are fly. But no need to listen to my same old lament, you’re here for news and a song. 😉
He is so lucky. I cannot even imagine having a whale spit me out like a used piece of gum. https://www.npr.org/2021/06/12/1005918788/humpback-whale-swallowed-lobster-diver-cape-cod-michael-packard
New research shows how incredibly important REM sleep is in flushing out our brains. Science for the win! https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/08/210825113638.htm
I leave you with an 80s favorite. Enjoy! I’ll see you in seven. https://youtu.be/d9jhDwxt22Y

Weekly News

It is time for yet another first Wednesday posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). If you haven’t already visited some of the writers who participate, check out our amazing co-hosts– Rebecca Douglass, T. Powell Coltrin @Journaling Woman, Natalie Aguirre, Karen Lynn, and C. Lee McKenzie!
The optional question this month is: How do you define success as a writer? Is it holding your book in your hand? Having a short story published? Making a certain amount of income from your writing?
I do define success as holding a physical book in my hand. A physical book has always been part of the reading experience for me, so it is an important aspect of feeling like I achieved my writing goal. Enough money to write full time is part of the long-term goal, but the physical book piece comes first.
Time for some news.
My first story today asks the best question of the day: “Who puts a cow in a Buick?” https://www.huffpost.com/entry/cow-mcdonalds-drive-thru_n_61296373e4b06e5d80cd6449
Yet another volcano story because I heart volcanoes as much as I heart science. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/08/210826111724.htm
I leave you with a song. Enjoy, and I’ll see you in seven. https://youtu.be/Q-ejz2RmueE

Happy Wednesday, folks! I’m a happy camper today because I had a good editing day this morning. The words flowed beautifully. There’s almost nothing better. Since I can’t share the finished product yet, I leave you with news and a song instead. It’s not exactly a close second, but it’ll have to do. 😊
I bet you’ve seen this story. I had to share it anyway because the teeth creep me out. They shouldn’t, but—OMG—they do. So weird. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/sheepshead-human-like-teeth_n_610bf7fee4b041dfbaa67a43
In science news, a game-changing discovery which could reverse age-related memory loss. I heart science so hard. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/07/210722113052.htm
And last, but never least, music. Enjoy, and I’ll see you in seven. https://youtu.be/YWt4wmZ_EMI
