It’s time once again for the monthly posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG). You know–the time of the month when shaking, twitchy writers crawl toward their keyboard and reach out into the great swirl of the internet in hopes of making a virtual connection. Or, to confirm if there’s still an actual world still spinning around them. Same, same.
Our wonderful co-hosts this month are: Beverly Stowe McClure, Tyrean Martinson, and Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor! Thanks for co-hosting!
The optional question this month is: What’s harder for you to come up with, book titles or character names?
My answer is neither. Super concise, and not at all informative, huh? All right. The truth is I don’t have trouble coming up with meaningful names for either my books or my characters, but I struggle with putting full effort into the book naming part because we are constantly told we have little control over that aspect of marketing.
In fact, I recently received feedback that my single word title was too simplistic, and the reviewer was confirmed correct by an industry professional I know, and I still struggled to find the motivation to correct it. The whiny side of me didn’t want to put in the effort. But I did it. It’s better, too. So you know what’s going to happen when I sell it, right? They’re going to suggest changing it right away or not at all. I just know it. Oh well. Not a significant problem to have–I guess. Pouty face. Pouty face. Pouty face.
Enough moaning. Time for some mid-week news.

I am way too interested in this first story, and it appears I am not alone. Twitter mostly makes me happy. We need an update on the socks, people. Please.
Um … why? Bathrooms are WAY better, dude. I bet they even have one, or–you know– like half a dozen inside the school.
In science news this week, ceramic that acts like Play Do before shattering. This could be huge for so much more than just jet engines. I heart science!
That’s all for me today, folks. See you back here in seven.

That’s really sad when wet socks is news.
Out of all the books DLP has published, only two involved a title change.
It’s amazing that you’ve only changed two of the titles.
I never realized ceramic was used on jet engines.
Even if a publisher changes it, just know it’s probably for the best. And who know – they may love the new one.
I didn’t realize that ceramic was used on engines either. The title change is good. I can admit that now. I just had to put on my big-girl pants and stop whining.
